Fernanda Menna Barreto Krum

Fernanda is specialised in community, trauma, and emergency psychology, along with Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and family therapies by providing an integrative approach to her client’s issues. Through the systemic therapy approach she sees mental health concerns as part of a larger “system” (families, workplace, etc) and aims to support healing through finding healthy ways to transform those interactions. With EMDR therapy, Fernanda supports clients to target traumatic memories and alleviate the different levels of symptoms, while integrating the narrative of the events, providing an acceleration to the healing process. Fernanda’s interest in trauma began in Brazil while working alongside vulnerable populations, as well as in an emergency hospital. She has 26 years of experience as a clinical and trauma psychologist, 18 of which were spent with INGO’s in various conflict contexts within the sector of international humanitarian aid. Through this work, she advised several mental health and psychosocial programs in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe, as well as worked directly with families and individuals as a clinical psychologist. Fernanda is also a social entrepreneur. Throughout the last decade, she co-founded and managed a successful enterprise based in community transformation. Fernanda holds a BA and master’s in psychology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She also has a certificate in Global Mental Health from the Harvard University Program in Refugee Trauma and a residency degree in Emergency and Trauma Psychology from the Emergency Hospital of Porto Alegre.
